It's one thing when brackets aren't paid out. It's another thing when scores are wrong. And it's an entirely different animal when the TD won't allow children to sell candy.
Yesterday evening, the Fire Foxx Summer Slam Tournament at Bowlerama was run by Greg Porter and with it came myriad problems. The first problem involved youth bowlers. Apparently a few 11-year old (yes, 11-year-olds) youth bowlers were walking around selling candy and 50/50 tickets at the tournament to support jersey sales for the upcoming National Storm Youth Bowling Challenge. They made it through 2 pairs of lanes before the Tournament Director shut it down. When the coach of the youth team approached the TD, he supposedly told by the TD that this was "his tournament" and no outside sales would be allowed, regardless of whether they were youth bowlers or not. Because of this, the youth bowlers ceased sales of the candy and the 50/50 raffle tickets.
Apparently a few minutes later, the TD himself started selling 50/50 raffle tickets, saying that all proceeds would be given to the Philadelphia Jr. Bowlers. However, upon speaking to the director of the Philadelphia Jr. Bowlers tour, apparently he has not received "one dime" from the TD in the past despite similar promises. When bowlers questioned why he didn't allow candy sales at the event, he said he was "livid" and that, despite these children selling candy at all the events, he "wasn't everybody."
Unfortunately the issues didn't stop there.
After the event was over, according to one bowler, it took over 2 hours for payouts to be made. And when they were, they were wrong. One bowler who shot a 268 scratch in game 1 was given a 193 and when the TD was asked to change the score, the TD refused, saying he "couldn't keep bowlers there any longer." One bowler was offered $10 when, according to him, he should've gotten back at least $1200+. And adding further insult, when the bowler asked the TD to print the scores to verify, the TD flat out refused. And if that wasn't enough, apparently the Love Doubles portion of the event wasn't paid out at all and "not one single score was ever posted."
